Book and Film Combo: “Jailed for Freedom” & “Iron Jawed Angels”

“Iron Jawed Angels,” which is about Alice Paul and the National Woman’s Party, is free on YouTube. It’s divided up into 12 sections, but it’s worth persisting to see this gem of a film. Sure, there are historical inaccuracies. An internet search will bring up a lot of what people like and don’t like about the film. It’s a great introduction to those who haven’t seen it, and worth watching again and again. The music video, “Bad Romance,” though a parody of Lady Gaga, lays out the basics of the story of Alice Paul and the picketing of the White House in 1917.

Suffrage Wagon News Channel has a crash course with film and video. Check it out.
